What A Draaaaagggg!!!

Breaking your leg 2 weeks before basketball playoffs......is a draaaaaaagggg!!!!
Just ask Nathan.
He's not thrilled.
In the least!

Bored out of his mind
and sick of crutches.
It's only been a week...so he's gonna have to get used to them.

Thankfully the whole thing is pretty minor so hopefully he'll get the cast
off in less than 4 weeks.
The dangers of being a teenager on a trampoline ;)

Get Picky Sketch Challenge

Loved the sketch over at Get Picky and had to play along.....

I kind of knew right away that I wanted to put my title in that strip along the side.
I pulled these pictures of the girls at The American Girl Store when we took them last fall.

Loved all the happy colors in the Studio Calico kit and just had fun with it ;)
Thanks for looking!!!!

It's Sew Fun!!!

The girls and I spent a boring Saturday afternoon sewing!
Kristen has taken a liking to any kind of sewing and begs to do something all the time.
(she's JUST like me ;)

Samantha was gone and there wasn't a friend in the world to play with so I gave in.
She wanted to sew a blanket for her American Girl doll....like the one Santa gave her ;)

I've helped her sew before but yesterday she was ready to take it on, on her own.
She did a great job!!!!
And yes.....I (now we) sew on the floor!
(I think this came about because I rarely had a kitchen table that was near an outlet)

Samantha eventually came home and just HAD to join in the fun.
She too had something in mind to make.....though a little different.

She did a great job too....I'm so surprised that they've both just picked it up all of a sudden.  Though I have helped them sew a number of times, i just didn't expect them to be able to sew this well ;)

Just a little slower, and more intent than her sister.

Here's Kristen with her finished blanket, she made a pillow case too ;)
She did everything herself except the trim.  I helped her cut it out and showed her how to sew the pieces together but she did all the sewing!!!

Samantha's little couch for her dolls...we covered a box with fabric and she made the pillows, with a little help ;)
I see A LOT of little sewing projects in the very near future.......yikes.

March Sneaky Sneaks!

Wanna know what the March kit at My Scrapbook Nook is gonna be?????
Hu Hu do ya?????

It's just the newest release from Crate....Emma's Shoppe!!!
I know the DT is SUPER DUPER excited about this one.
We've been drooling all over it since Crate started leaking peaks.
I'ts gonna be fabulous!
Here are just a few pieces of the pie ;)

I've also got a few more layouts from the February kit to share with you.
I must say....I really loved how this one turned out.
That peacock feather kinda scared me a little, but I LIKED IT!
and knew I had to use it.  I'm not a big flower/bouquet kind of girl but
I knew I had to make this one work for me.

At some point I remembered these pictures of my grandpa and me...that early eighties look seemed to fit just right ;)  We always shared our birthdays...he was the 6th, I am the 5th.  I had lots of bits from the kit I wanted to incorporate here.  The vellum (butterflies), the rubons, the stickers and the feather.  There are actually only 2 small pieces of pattern paper in here.

When I get my kits I obviously have a color scheme to work with so I'll go through and find pictures that I think will work well.  I came across these ones of Samantha from a few years back and they totally make me laugh!  Her hair always did this on the trampoline!  always.

I pretty much just used bits and pieces of papers from the kit, kept it simple and fun.  Loved the ledger rubons and I just used small bits of them at the top and bottom of my page for a little distressing effect.

Thanks again for looking and check back tomorrow and I'll share with you some sneaks for some upcoming kits at the Nook....good stuff I tell ya ;)

The Week that Was

A couple of fun (depending on who you talk to) tidbits from the week at our house....

I totally forgot my pre-schoolers valentine party.
No treats or cards from him.
He didn't seem to care much though....his box still got filled ;)
Valentines have since been done and he'll just pass them out tomorrow!

I spent one morning making two large loaves of banana bread.
A favorite around here.
Apparently, the dog likes it too since he managed
to scootch an entire loaf off the counter and eat it ALL!!!
He spent the rest of the day outside!

Jack likes to hang things.  This week it was monkey.
Last week it was a SW lego dude hanging by chains off another cabinet.
A few years ago....it was a lovely pair of underwear hanging on a hanger in his closet!
(somewhere I have a picture of that ;)

On another note....I did finally order the print that will be hung under that shelf!!
Finally!

In case you didn't know....we have a beauty salon at our house.
Quality barbie cuts for cheap!
Especially if you like that modern edgy look!

The barbies lined up for this deal!

And in case all of that didn't prove I aint got it all together....
maybe this will!
This is how Samantha operates ;)
Can you see that lamp on the table...it's about to go down!
Their room exhausts me!!!

Happy Valentines Day ;)

February Kit at the Nook

Here's the latest kit at the Nook.
I have to admit....this one kind of scared me!
It's a bit (ok, a lot) out of my comfort zone....fancy.

But you know what....I love it.
I made it my own and it works for me ;)

I thought I would share with you today my process....when I get my DT boxes in the mail.....
I usually rip them open the second it's in my hands....which is usually in the car.
I can't wait to look at everything!

Once I get it home and have a minute I start sorting my papers.
I like to see which ones work well together, which combo's I like.
Then I'll start thinking about pictures.
Usually I'll have a few in mind and go looking for them.
Sometimes I just flip through the albums or computer files to see what I have.
Once I have a stack of photos I want to use then I start.  Putting pictures and papers together and usually one set will pull at me first and I'll get an idea and go with it.

I love working with the kits because I don't spend a lot of time searching for supplies....they are already together.  I will often add a little ribbon, or buttons to my pages, but mostly it's all from the kit and add ons.

I've got a box that I keep my current kit in, so it's always out on my desk until I feel like I've done everything I want with it.  Then it goes back in it's bag and stashed with the rest of my old kits.  I like to keep everything together for a while.  Eventually I'll remove all the alphas, and embellishments and sort them, but I always keep the papers together.

I'm the kind of person who tends to "know" what she has.  So I can easily remember what came in an old kit and pull things out of them from time to time if I want it.

Here are a few layouts I've finished.....I have several more in my mind so there will be more to share over the next few weeks.

This was just an old picture I found in Samantha's album....one Sunday before church.  Back in the day when I could match my girls dresses ;)  I really love having daughters and thank my Heavenly Father for them everyday!  I knew I wanted to use this rub on butterfly for this picture...keeping it sweet and simple.

This layout is for an inspiration class I'm teaching this month.  The rub on's inspired me to pull out this picture. I haven't scrapped too many maternity pictures of myself.

I loved how this one turned out!.  Love all the pretty details.  These are the first blessing pics. of Samantha that I've scrapped.  It's funny how I often avoid the pictures of special occasion's.

Well, that's all for now....thanks for looking ;)
Happy Tuesday!
