I am NOT a very fun mom

Today after picking the kids up from school I suggested we go to the library. Haven't been for a while, thought I'd be nice. They ask why, I said something to the affect of never doing anything fun, not a very nice mom...... Samantha pipes up immediately, "Ya! You're not a very fun mom." Kristen, to my defense, says "That's not true, I think you're a wonderful mom." Nathan for once has no comments. Then Samantha retracts her first statement and says "ya, just sometimes you're not very fun."

I guess Nathan had nothing to say since he said his beef this weekend. On Saturday asked me why we never do anything fun as a family. I remind him that someone in this house has been sick since Christmas (can't go anywhere together if someone's sick-da!) It's been to freekin' cold outside to go to the park. And never mind that we have been to a movie in the last month, we spent a week in Utah last month, grandma & grandpa were here last weekend, celebrated Jacks 1st birthday. But apparantly, we don't have any fun around here! Oh ya and we got to see cousins this weekend. So here is a picture of my children NOT having any fun!

She's a Superstar!

Yesterday was Kristens dance recital. That girl loves the stage. She beems from ear to ear as she performs. Her dance was to the Hippy Hippy Shake song and she loves to shake in her flapper girl costume. She is a talented little girl and loves to dance. She is very proud of herself and in reference to her curly locks says "I can't haardly stand it, they are soooo bea-utiful"

Kristen informed me that she did not want a silk flower like she got last time for her performance. She wanted real flowers, roses to be exact! The entire day she kept asking if I got the flowers for her. During the recital she asked when I was going to give them to her. I told her it was rude to keep asking and assuming that we were giving her flowers. Children, they have no tact! We did not spring for roses, but got her mini red carnations instead. She told me "Mom, these are not roses, but I like them anyway."

Samantha is dying to get back into dance. She has been on a break and is ready to start today! So this summer we will once again have two on recital day. I can't wait to see how she does. She has developed some serious shoulder and hip shaking action. She is a rock star!

My Baby

My baby just turned one the other day. Surprisingly I don't feel too sad about that. I've always been a little sad when a baby turns one. Maybe that means I am truly OK with this being it for our family. Don't get me wrong, part of me can't believe I will never have a new baby again. I love that stage, so sweet and fresh from Heaven. But I don't want to do the sleepless nights anymore, the worrying when they are so young about being ok, and NEVER being pregnant again!
Jack is a perfect ending to this family. He is a lot of fun and the biggest mama's boy ever-it's a bit much on his part but it won't last forever and before too long none of them will want me anymore. So I will just have to enjoy, regardless.
Jack is definitely finding out that there is more to this world than being a baby. He is walking so proud now and just figured out how to open the doors. The bathroom is not safe anymore, neither is the toilet paper. We are in trouble. He does not enjoy the baby food as much as he used to, he likes to wait and see what we are having. You can see the wheels spinning in that little head when someone else is eating. He's a moocher, big time. We gave him gold fish this week. Love does not begin to describe the feeling he has for those things. He likes to lick them and savor them. Not a very clean snack.
When I figure out how to download my digital camera I can post a picture of my beautiful baby boy!
